Tracey Marchyok's Class

Welcome Back!

My name is Tracey Marchyok. I am pleased to be returning to AALC as a classroom teacher. This is my 5th year as an AALC staff.

Maribel Mast is returning this year as our classroom assistant.

We will be involved with the following projects and concepts in the beginning of the school year:

Getting to Know You

The beginning of the school year is a very social time. We talk, share, and play together. It's important that we bond as a classroom so that we build trust, group dynamics, and autonomy.

I use examples from the Responsive Classroom to shape our days and build our classroom community.

In September, the class will be involved with the following:

Learn about school-wide 4 Agreements
Labeling areas in the classroom
Creating classroom jobs
Receiving supplies
Learning how to take notes
Learning about private and public spaces
Getting assigned a locker
School and Outdoor boundaries
Recess rules
Classroom procedures
Play games inside
Play games outside

Game playing is the best way for a group of kids to learn to trust, have fun, and get to know one another. The teacher and teaching assistant join in on the fun!

This is a very tiring time for your child. Please make sure their evenings are balanced. Your child will need time to decompress. Expect your child to be sleepy and, perhaps, a bit more needy the month of September. It's a lot to adjust to!

Food and Water

Thank you for sending your child to school with a snack for late morning, a healthy lunch, and a water bottle each day. Children are encouraged to drink water throughout the day. Water conducts electricity, and electricity courses through the brain. Learning is brain and body work!

I look forward to a wonderful year with your child.
Please email me with comments and concerns.

Kind Regards,

Tracey Marchyok
