SCRIP FUNDRAISING
I’m pleased to share some exciting news about a fundraising program for the AALC PTSO. It’s called “SCRIP”, and it’s the fundraising program that works while you shop.
We will do scrip orders each month and subsequent orders will be due on the 1st Thursday of each month.
SCRIP is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words,
SCRIP is gift certificates from national and local retailers. They’re the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our SCRIP program including Starbucks, Office Max and Depot, Staples, Home Depot, Lowes, Lands End (which you can use and Kmart and Sears stores) JCPenney, The Gap, Shell, Pizza Hut, Red Robin, Red Lobster, Noodles and Co., Chuck E Cheese, Panera and many, many others.

You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise money. It’s simple -- SCRIP participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our organization at a discount. Member families like yours buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our school keeps the difference as
revenue. And SCRIP is exciting, because everybody wins:
- The retailer gets cash up front and repeat business…
- You get a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling…
- Our school gets a regular source of revenue.
The beauty of SCRIP is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work.

spending a single additional penny.

SCRIP can be used for just about any household purchase including food,
clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out.

Once you place your order online, place your receipt and check made
out to AALC PTSO in the scrip box by the school entrance by the deadline. Your gift cards will be sent home with your child or you can pick up from your child’s teacher by the date listed on the form.
As of right now there is not a way for you to pay for your order online. Some
of the cards are now rechargeable (Starbucks and Lowe’s for example) and
if you order them using shop with scrip, you can add more money to
the card using shop with scrips and then dropping off a check in the
SCRIP box. It’s as easy as that to help the PTSO raise money and the best
parts are, there is no door to door selling by you and you use the money
you would already be spending.
We currently have SCRIPS available for the following merchants and all
orders are placed online at www.shopwithscrip.com(this is new for the 2010-2011 school year and does include the grocery store and auto
wash cards)!
