Ms. S's Class

Hello Spring!

The year is flying by! We have been celebrating reading month by learning about Patricia Polacco. We have been participating in weekly events - PJ day, dressing as a favorite book character, read a hat day, and of course doing a lot of reading!
We have also been enjoying our guest readers! We have had family member and teachers in to read their favorite books to the class. It's fun to learn about new books!

Spelling
We have finished our study of vowels and are now going to review word families. We will be working
on the sh family this week.
sh words:
shut she ship shop dish wish fish push
word wall words:
since done people out many

Recently our class lost a beloved pet -our fish Sky. We used this as a teachable moment. The students planned a funeral, including where he was buried and signs to mark where. We sang a song they selected "Row Row Row Your Boat" and "Goodbye Sky". We then read "The Tenth Good Thing About Barney" and made some great text to self connections. We will be looking at getting a new fish after spring break.

After spring break we will begin planning what we want to plant in our food garden this spring.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Thanks!
