Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year in room #1!
Glad to be back!: We had a fantastic first week of school. We spent time getting to know each other and learning the routines in the classroom and throughout the school.
Language Arts: I have begun doing language arts assessments. I’ve completed a handwriting assessment, and have begun to do letter/ sound assessments. I am hoping to complete those by the end of the week and move on to sight word assessments. I do these assessments to find out your child’s instructional level so I know what skills I need to be working on with each individual child.
Math: We will introduce basic math concepts such as counting and patterns during our daily calendar time. The early primary teachers have assessed the student’s math skills and will be placing students into their math groups. I will be teaching the first grade students. Miss LeDuc and Mrs. King will be teaching the kindergarten students. We will begin our math groups this week and you will be notified who your child’s math teacher is this week if he/ she is in kindergarten.
