WELCOME BACK!

AALC sign

Welcome back to another great school year at AALC!

During the first few weeks of school, we will be busy creating our classroom community. We will be learning about one another, reviewing our community agreements, and practicing our daily routines of the classroom. In addition, teachers will be assessing the academic and social needs of the children.

ROOM 7 SPECIALS SCHEDULE
Library: Wednesday 2:50-3:20
Reading Buddies: Friday 8:45-9:10
Music: Monday & Wednesday 8:35-9:20
P.E.: Wednesday 11:05-11:50
Art: Tuesday & Thursday 8:35-9:20

Because our specials start at 8:35 each morning, it is very important that your child arrives to school no later than 8:30. Just a reminder about morning drop off procedures:
Students will be allowed into the school building at 8:15am. Students may be dropped off at the curb or drivers may park their vehicles and escort their children to the Great Room. This is a great time for students to gather in the community area of the school and chat with friends. Students will be dismissed to walk to their classrooms at 8:25am. Class will start promptly at 8:30. Those students who arrive after 8:30am are considered tardy and will need to have a parent sign them in at the office. The office assistant will give the student a late slip which needs to be brought to the classroom and placed in the wicker basket by the front door.

AALC's COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS
1. Mutual Respect
2. The Right to Participate or Pass
3. Attentive Listening
4. Appreciations/ No Put Downs

PARENTS + STUDENTS + TEACHER = TEAM
Studies show that parental involvement in a child's education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. Your family is an essential part of the educational team here at AALC. I am excited to be your partner in your child's educational journey. Please remember that you are an important part of our classroom and I want all who come to room 7 to feel welcome and comfortable here.

ABOUT THE TEACHER
I have recently completed my Educational Technology Certificate from Michigan State University and have learned about some really exciting web 2.0 tools which I plan to teach my students this year. One of those tools is Glogster EDU. Glogster is basically an online poster creating tool which allows you to attach images, text, videos, music, etc.. I have created my own "All About Me" glog without a lot of the "bells and whistles" but filled with lots of information about myself. Please visit my glog by clicking on the following link:

TECHNOLOGY
With the recent purchase of the laptop computer cart, the classrooms are now able to have shared usage of the laptops with internet access. Our technology day is Monday, 2:05-2:45. This will be a time when students will learn how to use the computer to complete many different projects throughout the school year. Students will also have access to our classroom computers during centers time Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:05-2:45. These computers do not have internet connections but will be used to teach the children keyboarding.

We have lots of new and exciting things to learn and explore this year. It will undoubtedly be a year of growth and learning for your child and I am so excited to be your partner in this wonderful journey.

Your input is very important so please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, comments, or concerns you may have throughout the school year. I can be reached at:
